The ‘Library-on-Yesenin’ – the ‘Family Reading’ library № 25 was founded on 14 November, 1954. At first, it was the Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya children’s affiliated library № 25, which fruitfully worked for a long time in Alekseyevka district. In March 2010, the library moved to a new address - 7, Yesenina Street. Of February 17, 2014, as a result of merging with the Igor Muratov adult library № 33, it has become known as the ‘Family Reading’ affiliated library № 25.
Nowadays the universal fund of the ‘Library-on-Yesenin’ counts more than 55 thousand books. The fund contains a lot of up-to-date applied-research literature, interesting reference publications for kids, schoolchildren and adults, books of contemporary Ukrainian and foreign authors. The basis of the fund includes classical and set literature for schools, literature for leisure time – women’s romances, detective and ironic novels, fantasy and fantasy action, biography literature, publicist novels and literature for those who pursue different hobbies like cooking, needlework, or floriculture. Periodical publications for children and adults are also available.
Annually, the library serves more than 3 thousand readers of all age groups. The library staff have managed to create in it the atmosphere of warmth, kindness, understanding, friendly socializing and creativity, which results in the deep gratitude of all their readers. Much attention is paid to the aesthetic decoration of the library. Many residents of Kharkov take an active part in the work of the library; they act as patrons of the arts by helping in fund’s acquisition, in holding events and decorating the premises of the library.
The library has got several computers, free of charge Internet, which the readers can use not only to find additional information, but also to communicate in social networks and to solve legal problems in the framework of the system «E-goverment», and for many other purposes. The library also offers a campaign against computer illiteracy for senior citizens.
On the premises of the library, there functions a children’s club for live communication and creative development, called ‘Curious Calampusik’. In its turn, the club holds contests and workshops which attract children and adults alike.
The library has close relations with the primary veteran organization of Dhzerzhinsky district № 25 and takes an active part in their events.
The library has claimed two projects on the ‘Good deeds’ platform: one of them, ‘Curious Calampusik’, is already in active operation, and the other, concerning work with war and labour veterans is underway; the library also takes part in Ukrainian Library Association’s programmes.
Detailed information about the life of the library can be found on this site – news and announcements – as well as in social networks ‘Moy Mir’, ‘Odnoklassniki’, ‘VKontakte’, and in Facebook.
